Lunch buffet @ Star world~

Another lovely gathering with my HC family @ Star world...

29999_10150194475745113_905805112_12804052_7311525_n

On that day, besides from enjoying the food and time with my classmates, we have prepared a surprise for our Ms. Friendship_Vicky.

At the beginning, the game"Pick, pack Bom" went smoothly, while as it carried on Steve intentionally failed the task and with the result that all his group members (including our birthday star_Vicky) had to get the punishment.  Meanwhile, when Vicky was worrying about the punishment (eating the wasabi sushi), we brought out the birthday cake and have the celebration with her!

*"Happy birthday, our Ms. Friendship!!"

From this, It reminded me of the words from Yolanda "Family members gather around for no reason; if there is, then it must be caused by the inhereted bonding about love and care..." The HC was like a big family, we keep sharing our happiness so to make it double and we also share our sadness which halve our sorrows

Though it's the end of our semester, I believe that our friendship and bonding will continue !

Our last HC class~

It has been raining heabily this afternoon and I nearly got all wet to school:P
(due to the sudden rain, I'm sorry that I was late for class~)

For today's class, there were lots of surprise and touching moments! At the beginning, Dr. Udani allowed us to write sorry notes to our classmates and I appreciated this activity.  Usually, we take things for granted and sometimes we may even abuse the good of others without noticing it.  Thus, it was good a time for us to reflect and to apologize for our misdeed or mistakes.  It's always an important and inevitable step that one needs to first recognize his/her mistakes, then change it and learn form it so to become a better self.  From this, I have also learnt that a real leader is the one who could admit and apologize for his/her wrongdoings, I think this is the reason why there is a saying as the follow:

"A leader is not the greatest nor a perfectionist, he/she might still make mistakes. However, one of the thing that differentiate them from the normal folks is that they are willing and courageous enough to admit and apologize for their wrong doings....."

After that we have had an awarding ceremony and it was great to receive the "Ms. Smile" awards!! It's kind of really surprising for me because I have never thought of it...

The smile is from the bottom of my heart and it is the presence of you guys that motivates me to do so!!

No matter what, a big thanks to folks who like my smile. Hope that my smile can have the little magical effect to light up your day!! :)  Thx

Pik Pak Boom ~

For today's class, there were two delightful things that I would like to share:

The first one was  the award ceremony of the 10 best bloggers of the HC.
All of them have done a great job in their blog writing and I enjoy reading their blogs very much!! Besides, I appreciated their effort in blogging and this allowed me to know more about my classmates.

Staring from the beginning, I do think this was a bright idea for us to do the blogging. Through this, it allowed us to record down the joyful, wonderful, memorable and unforgettable experiences that we have had in the HC.  In addition, this granted us to share the thoughts deep under our heart without feeling tense nor uneasy while we have to do the same in front of others. Thus, here we have again witnessed the power of internet, right!

btw, we have a new way for cheering that was the "HC clap"  No matter when and where, the power of clapping and cheering do always have a wonderful and tremendous influence on us~~

Thus, let's keep up this positive, optimistic, thankful  and  appreciative attitude~~

For the second thing, it was about the game name "Pik Pak Boom",
Though it was the second time for me to play this game, it's still enjoyable and exciting for me!!
Even though our team couldn't break to the final round, I appreciated effort of my group mates (Thz Rosan and Ida...it's great to have you guys!)

Lastly, I would like to thank everyone for your sharing of the snacks, Moreover, thanks Dr Udani who brought this game to HC and allowed us to have such a joyful time!

"CAN" Leadership Workshop~

After days and nights of discussion, work and rehearsal, our big day then has finally arrived!!

This Saturday, we have successfully hosted the “CAN" Leadership Workshop.

Before I go on, I would like to share the story and objectives behind this workshop;

This fresh idea of hosting a workshop for the freshmen was originated with and brought up by our creative classmates. So with the guidance and coaching from Dr. Udani, as well as the selflessness contribution from our group mates, we were able to make this workshop a fruitful one.

For the reasons why we named this workshop with the acronym “CAN” (C-Creativity, A-Attitude, N-Network) is because we would like the participants to grasp the most fundamental ideas about leadership:

(a)    As a leader, one should be novel and CREATIVE in thinking while encountering challenges.  An innovative perspective in looking at problems and coming up with solutions is an inevitable path towards success. In other words is that one needs to be flexible and enjoy the challenges one encounters.

(b)   ATTITUDE has a big impact on one’s behavior and the result one wants to achieve. Most of the time, your success is depended on your attitude. Keeping a positive attitude while facing difficulties could help one to overcome these problems.

(c) No matter when and where, as long as you are living in a community then NETWORK is a vital element for you to be successful. Remember the old saying: “No man is an island.” Human are collective in nature and we should recognize the power of networking.

A sentence to conclude this theme is:

“You CAN be what you dream of…..”

**Besides, one minor thing to mention is about it’s linkage with Wednesday “IF” Leadership Workshop

”IF you dare to dream, then you CAN be what you dream of….”

Actually, we acknowledge that leadership is a comprehensive and broad topic, thus its meaning cannot be fully covered by our theme. Nevertheless, the main purpose of this workshop is to stimulate participants’ interests in leadership and allow them to discover their own leadership potentials through the activities we provide. In addition, we hope to maximize this four hours workshop with interesting and educational tasks such to implant these useful concepts in their minds.

Early before the start of the workshop at 2pm, helpers had already stood by, busy preparing for the games and did the room setting.  Even though we have limited time to have our lunch, we still enjoy it!

For the first half of the workshop,  we had the funny and educational ice-breaking games which contained  specific topics which are related to our theme. All the participants enjoys it and this could served as a function to encourage their involvement.  At the end of each section, we have reserved some time so to allow  participants  to share their feelings and the things they have learnt. Our main role in this workshop was to be the facilitators and mentors of the participants. We would encourage them to play an active role and take up the role of  leader within their group, so to accomplish the assigned tasks.  Through out the program, we listened attentively to their sharings, then we recaped the the important points and presented them in our conclusion.  These then could be their take home messages =]

Our first ice-breaking game, we are all excited!!

Brainstorming Part:

After three short yet inspiring films, we came to our first Task accomplishment:

Value Drama: participants were given 25min. for preparation. First, they needed to get inspiration from a short video, then performed a short drama that was related to this theme.
It's really enjoyable to watch their performance and I fould that these freshmen were all great!!=]

Task completion 2 after the tea break: "Ballon Tower Building":

In this task, participants have to work together to build the tallest, stablest and creative tower with the ballons. We hope that through this, they could grasp the important concepts about leadership which are: (a) to plan before work - group discussion and job allocation are vital; All the members should have reached a consent, so that they can work effectively and efficiently; (b) to turst your teammate and to overcome your fear: since the ballons are vulnerable to blast, one (especially for most of the girls) might be afraid of it and thus reluctant to participate. Here, we would like to offer them a chance to overcome their fear with the supports from their group mates; (c) to be creative, yet in a practical way: like what we have introduced in the first part *(Creative = Novel + Useful)...

Time flied and it has been a brilliant afternoon!!

Though there are rooms for improvement and we could do even better on the time management. General speaking, we have made this workshop a successful one!

Thanks for all of your participation, supports and contribution!!

Let's hug!! :D

IF Leadership Workshop~

On May 5 Wednesday, the HC class 2012 has hosted a leadership workshop for the freshmen of University of Macau with the theme IF. The word “IF” is the acronym from Inspiration and Facilitation.

On the day, even though I was neither the organizer nor the participant of the workshop, I was glad to be invited and observed its process.  Eventhough, there was restriction on the size of the room, it didn’t affect the progress of the workshop.  First, they had introduced a brilliant ice-breaking game to heat up the atmosphere, such that participants were more willingly to get themselves involved in the workshop. Then they allowed in-group discussions and sharings with the usage of the handouts.  After that, lectures about leadership styles were given to the participants so to let them to have a more concrete take home concept. =]

Second, they had to take up the awesome “Marshmallow Challenge”, all their creativity and innovation could be shown through this task and I am sure that the participants had gained a lot of inspiration and learnt the importance of planning from this. Then here came the third part about “The Fastest Conveyor”.  Organizers were smart enough to move out to the recreational area for this team-building activity. These could maximize the use of resources and was a novel way to live up the workshop.

Through out the workshop, I could see the happiness and satisfaction on the faces of participants. Thank you Group B for organizing this wonderful workshop!!

*I’m looking forward to our workshop on Saturday, so guys let’s keep on fighting and make it rocks! =]
